Network Security Guard, is an AppleTalk based utility that will scan multiple zones for the presence of Macintosh servers and compile reports on the security of those servers. This utility was designed as a tool to combat the alarming rise in software piracy and as a safeguard against accidental sharing of confidential materials.
Network Security Guard was designed as a tool to help monitor:
• All Macs on the network with file sharing turned on
• All Macs with Guest access enabled (incl. volume names)
• All files accessible via Guest access (i.e. no password)
• Provide a list of other possible security violations
• A "password crack" report which identifies easily
guessed passwords
• A user-definable dictionary of username/password
combinations to try during the password crack process
Other features include:
• Check an unlimited number of zones and Macs
• The ability to schedule weekly unattended checks
• An option to e-mail any report each time it's generated
• The ability to search for specific file names on the network
